HOW I WOULD LIKE TO BE REMEMBERED

I recently beheld a vision

Of my last days here on earth

And thought to myself, how beautiful it will be

To stand next to my Omega - my End

And look back to my Alpha - my Beginning;

How He started a good work in me

And was faithful to see it to its end

Even as He begins an even greater work in me - Eternity with Him.

I considered, how beautiful it will be

To look upon my days

In the universe He made

How I, for a short while, groped in darkness

Unaware that my life was meticulously pre-determined by my Maker

All my days, written by His Divine Finger

My name engraved on His Palm

In the Ink of His Own Blood

The Lover of my soul - He knew me before I was.

How He, in His Lovingkindness

Drew me to His Most Wonderful Heart

And in His Most Secret Place

Weaved a beautiful home on the inside of me

His Dwelling Place with me

He became my everything, I owe Him my all

The Prince of Peace - He gave me an identity.

I will traverse, as I look back

On the nights He instructed me

The stark Image of His Face

Drenched in unapproachable Light, approaching me

Stripping off every layer of unworthiness

Laying aside every weight that so easily encompassed me

Showing me The Way

My Good Shepherd - He led me beside still waters.

I will look back even further

To Him, gazing so longingly at me

Lost sheep, trapped in a thicket

Him, strapped to a wooden cross stained red

Flowing from the Body that was poured out for me

The Word made flesh - He gave His Life for me.

I will look back and remember

How He found me

And reminded me that I was His own

His workmanship, His Body, His Bride

How I watched my own scars dissolve

Morphing into those on His Palms

My Kinsman Redeemer - He saved me.

I will look back and see

How He saturated me with His Essence

Taught me to bend a bow, made me a fortified pillar

Made me His planting, His oak of righteousness

His child, with a delightful inheritance

I believed Him, and from that day forward

I was found to always be about my Father’s Business

With feet firm enough to run the race before me

My Living Hope - He gave me purpose.

I will consider, through tearful lens of gratitude

How He aligned my desires with His Own

Transformed, the more I beheld Him as in a mirror

How constantly I longed to walk with divine precision

Doing the will of Him who loved me and gave His Life for me

And I in turn, loved not my own life even unto death

Walking in the steps written and ordered for me

The Ancient of Days - He prolonged His days through me.

And as I behold my own days

My Father will appear, to take me home

Surrounded by a cloud of beaming witnesses

The righteous made perfect

His Name on their foreheads

And as I look to Him, I will instantly recognise Him

He will be familiar, I have always known Him.

I have always known

The Face drenched in Light

The Right Hand that pulled me out of the mud

The Rock on which my feet were firmly planted

The Voice that was still, but potent

Sounding like a River, bright as crystal

Flowing from His Throne

And springing up in my own belly.

I have always known

The Presence that never left or forsook me

He always felt like a Tree of Life

Whose leaves yielded fruit on the inside of me

The Heart that loved me with an everlasting love

Steadfast, unrelenting, firm.

I have always known

The Wings that made me soar like an eagle

Inviting me to come up higher, higher, higher

Up until the last day, even as they carry me Home;

Back to The Place where I began.
