THE WORSHIPPER'S INSTRUMENT
"...but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal." 1 Corinthians 13:1
I have heard so many songs
Written about Love
Men have sung of Your Love
One man after the other
And maybe that's why
You are The Great Ancient of Days
Transposed from one generation to the next
Everyone that encounters You
Starts to sing
You call Me places and I come
First, with trepidation
Then, with righteous longing
Slowly, as I continuously behold You
I realise that every Love Song
Is about You
If it isn't about You, it isn't Love
And I too, start to sing
I sing a song
As unending as You are bottomless
The words start to flow, they do not stop
I sing in understanding and outside it
I sing of My Companion and My One
I sing of The Voice, The Sound
That is My Compass
Constantly nudging Me:
"Go where The Love is"
I learn, continuously
That the only response
To an encounter with True Love
Of which You are both
Is sound.
